Dados foram divulgados pela pesquisa TIC Kids Online Brasil 2024
Três em cada dez crianças e adolescentes entre 9 e 17 anos de todo o país (29% do total) já enfrentaram situações ofensivas ou discriminatórias na internet e que as deixaram chateadas. Além disso, 30% dessas crianças e adolescentes já tiveram contato com algum desconhecido na internet. Estes são alguns dos riscos apontados pela pesquisa TIC Kids Online Brasil 2024, do Comitê Gestor da Internet no Brasil (CGI.br), que foi divulgada hoje (23) na capital paulista.
“Essa proporção [de contato com pessoas desconhecidas] é maior para os mais velhos [entre as crianças e adolescentes]. Os mais velhos são mais assíduos, eles estão mais expostos aos riscos na internet. E os meios em que esse contato acontece é principalmente pelas redes sociais, por trocas de mensagens instantâneas. Isso reforça a importância para a mediação, para o uso e a participação dessas plataformas”, disse hoje (23) Luísa Adib, coordenadora da pesquisa TIC Kids Online Brasil.
Outro dado preocupante apontado pela pesquisa é para o uso excessivo da internet. Cerca de 24% do total de crianças e adolescentes que foram ouvidos neste estudo revelaram que gostariam de passar menos tempo acessando a rede, mas não conseguiram fazê-lo. Outros 22% disseram que se viram navegando na internet sem realmente estar interessado em nada. A mesma quantidade de crianças e adolescentes (22%) também afirmou que ficou muito tempo navegando, o que a impediu de fazer a lição de casa ou de passar mais tempo com a família e os amigos.
“Esses são dados importantes porque é uma pauta que está muito presente no debate atualmente sobre a qualidade e o tempo de uso de telas por crianças e adolescentes. Trouxemos essa percepção para alimentar esse debate e, a partir dessas evidências, criar orientações e regras que melhorem a qualidade, o aproveitamento e o benefício do uso da internet por crianças e adolescentes”, falou a coordenadora da pesquisa, em entrevista à Agência Brasil.
Um outro estudo divulgado recentemente pelo Instituto Alana, realizado pelo Datafolha, já apontava para uma percepção sobre o uso excessivo da internet entre as crianças e adolescentes. Segundo este estudo, 93% dos entrevistados concordava que as crianças e adolescentes estão ficando viciadas em redes sociais; 92% concordam que é muito difícil para crianças e adolescentes se defenderem sozinhas de violências e de conteúdos inadequados para sua idade; 87% concordam que a exibição de propagandas e comerciais para crianças e adolescentes nas redes sociais incentiva o consumo em excesso; e 86% concordam que os conteúdos mais acessados atualmente por crianças e adolescentes não são adequados para a idade deles.
O trabalho do Instituto Alana apontou ainda que nove em dez brasileiros acreditam que as empresas de redes sociais estão fazendo menos do que o suficiente para proteger crianças e adolescentes na internet e que as empresas deveriam tomar uma das seguintes medidas para proteger as crianças e adolescentes na internet: solicitar a comprovação de identidade dos usuários; melhorar o atendimento e apoio ao consumidor para denúncias; proibir a publicidade e venda para crianças; acabar com a reprodução automática e rolagem infinita de vídeos, como reels ou shorts; ou limitar o tempo de uso dos serviços.
“A população percebe que as empresas fazem menos do que deveriam aqui no Brasil em relação a essas salvaguardas e que é preciso que haja mais legislação”, falou Maria Mello, coordenadora do programa Criança e Consumo e líder do Eixo Digital no Instituto Alana. “Estas são questões surpreendentes no sentido positivo e indicam que a sociedade está olhando para isso e clamando por mudanças. Mas também demonstram a percepção de que muito precisa ser feito, sobretudo do ponto de vista regulatório”, acrescentou.
Luisa Adib explicou que para evitar o excesso e os riscos associados ao uso da internet é preciso mediação. Os pais, por exemplo, podem estabelecer regras como controle e limitação de tempo de uso da internet e também orientar as crianças e adolescentes sobre como fazer um uso responsável e consciente. Luisa alerta que essa não é uma tarefa que cabe somente aos pais ou responsáveis. “A gente tem que tomar um cuidado para não colocar responsabilidade só sobre o responsável, sejam ele os pais, as mães ou os educadores. Eles são sim parte fundamental, a gente sabe sobre a correlação positiva entre a mediação e o benefício, um uso de qualidade, mas não são os únicos responsáveis. A gente tem uma série de contextos que envolve também as regulamentações”, destacou.
Segundo Maria Mello, os resultados observados na pesquisa do Instituto Alana acabam dialogando com o estudo TIC Kids porque também demonstraram que a responsabilidade sobre o uso da internet por crianças e adolescentes não pode decair somente sobre os pais ou responsáveis. “Muitos pais e mães ainda sabem muito pouco sobre como proteger [seus filhos]. E isso não pode ser implicado, isso não pode estar na conta das famílias. Acho que é papel das empresas e também do Estado prover algum nível de consciência e de habilidades para que essa mediação parental aconteça”, reforçou.
“Precisa haver um acordo coletivo compartilhado, conforme preconiza a nossa Constituição Federal, para que essa presença se dê de uma maneira protegida. Agora, as famílias podem buscar, primeiro, se informar sobre o que acontece nas redes, que produtos e serviços são desenvolvidos adequadamente para essa presença e sobre os termos de uso, que vão dizer se aquele produto ou serviço é apropriado para aquela idade. Vale a pena estar atento para isso e também buscar entender mais sobre funcionamento algorítmico, que pode moldar comportamentos e fazer com que as crianças acessem conteúdos inadequados do ponto de vista da violência, de conteúdo de exploração sexual, mas também do ponto de vista da exploração comercial”, orientou Maria Mello.
Acesso à internet
O estudo TIC Kids Online Brasil 2024, conduzido pelo Centro Regional de Estudos para o Desenvolvimento da Sociedade da Informação (Cetic.br) do Núcleo de Informação e Coordenação do Ponto BR (NIC.br), ligado ao Comitê Gestor da Internet no Brasil (CGI.br), apontou ainda que o número de crianças e adolescentes com acesso à internet se manteve com certa estabilidade, com um pequeno declínio em 2024 em comparação ao ano passado.
Segundo o estudo, 93% das crianças e adolescentes entre 9 e 17 anos de todo o país são usuárias de internet no Brasil, pouco abaixo do que a pesquisa apontou no ano passado (95%). Esse acesso é maior na região sul, onde a quase totalidade das crianças e adolescentes (98%) declararam ter acesso à rede. Já a região norte concentra a menor porcentagem de acesso do país, com 85%.
Essa desigualdade também se manifesta entre as classes sociais. Se entre as crianças e adolescentes das classes A e B o acesso é praticamente total (99%), entre as crianças das classes D e E ele fica em torno de 91%. Já na classe C, isso corresponde a 93%.
Já em relação aos que disseram nunca ter acessado a internet, houve uma queda: se no ano passado, esse público correspondia a 580 mil pessoas, em 2024 um total de 492.393 pessoas revelaram nunca ter acessado a rede.
“A participação [sobre o uso da internet por crianças e adolescentes] continua estável. Se a gente considera a margem de erro, a gente está em um cenário de estabilidade. Mas há disparidades: cerca de 2 milhões de crianças e adolescentes na faixa de 9 a 17 anos não é usuária de internet ou porque nunca acessou ou não a acessou nos últimos 3 meses”, disse Luisa.
Além disso, acrescentou ela, o acesso por dispositivos também não é igualitário. “Crianças de classes A e B acessam por dispositivos mais variados e locais mais variados”, falou.
O acesso à internet é feito geralmente em casa, tanto pelas crianças e adolescentes das classes A e B (100%) quanto entre as crianças das classes C (100%) e das classes D e E (97%). Isso aponta para uma falta de melhor infraestrutura nas escolas, já que o acesso nesses locais é 56% (entre o público das classes A e B), 56% (na classe C) e de apenas 44% (entre as classes D e E).
“Quando as crianças são tiradas do direito de acesso às tecnologias de informação e comunicação, elas também estão perdendo a oportunidade de sofrer uma série de outros direitos, a educação, o entretenimento, a comunicação, a expressão. Hoje a gente já tem muitas atividades mediadas pelas tecnologias de informação e comunicação, então a gente precisa garantir o direito para todas as crianças, de forma igualitária, para que elas usufruam [destes benefícios]”, falou Luísa.
Para a pesquisa TIC Kids foram ouvidas 2.424 crianças e adolescentes de todo o país, com idades entre 9 e 17 anos e 2.424 pais ou responsáveis. O estudo foi realizado entre março e julho deste ano. O TIC Kids Online Brasil é uma pesquisa feita anualmente desde 2012 e só não foi realizada em 2020 por causa da pandemia de covid-19.
