O presidente nacional do Partido Liberal (PL), Valdemar Costa Neto, publicou um vídeo em uma rede social na madrugada desta sexta-feira, 18, afirmando que o ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro (PL), que está inelegível até 2030, será candidato à Presidência em 2026. A postagem ocorre sete dias após o dirigente partidário citar outros possíveis nomes para representar a direita no pleito e ser rebatido pelo ex-presidente.
“Bolsonaro é o representante da direita no mundo. O que acontece é que, como está inelegível, está por enquanto inelegível, acham que Bolsonaro não vai ser candidato, mas Bolsonaro será candidato”, disse Valdemar Costa Neto na publicação no Instagram
Na legenda do post, Valdemar elogiou o ex-presidente e disse que ele ficará apto a concorrer até o pleito. “Jair Bolsonaro é o maior líder da direita não só no Brasil, mas no mundo inteiro. Ele é um fenômeno por onde vai.”
Em 11 de outubro, Valdemar afirmou em entrevista à GloboNews que o primeiro da fila para a corrida presidencial é o governador de São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos). O presidente do PL também disse considerar uma candidatura do deputado federal Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), filho “03” do ex-presidente.
Durante a entrevista, o dirigente da sigla mencionou que acreditava que Bolsonaro ficaria elegível antes da próxima eleição por causa de um projeto em tramitação no Congresso Nacional que pode anistiar o correligionário. A proposta prevê perdão para os condenados em investigações relacionadas à tentativa de golpe de Estado no 8 de Janeiro. Bolsonaro é investigado como um dos mentores dos atos antidemocráticos em um inquérito relatado pelo ministro Alexandre de Moraes, do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF).
Cinco dias depois da declaração de Valdemar, Bolsonaro afirmou ao portal bolsonarista Auri Verde Brasil que é o candidato da direita para 2026. O ex-presidente disse não ser nada no partido e agradeceu ao presidente da legenda, mas disse que, se sua inelegibilidade não for anulada, ele se retirará da vida política.
Bolsonaro está inelegível por decisão do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) que o considerou culpado de usar indevidamente o cargo e a estrutura administrativa da Presidência da República para promover sua campanha eleitoral durante uma reunião com embaixadores estrangeiros no Palácio do Alvorada, em julho de 2022. O evento, transmitido ao vivo nas redes sociais oficiais e na TV Brasil, foi avaliado como uma forma de Bolsonaro inflamar seus apoiadores contra a Justiça Eleitoral, configurando abuso de poder político e uso indevido dos meios de comunicação. Ele também foi condenado por uso eleitoral das comemorações do Dia da Independência no mesmo ano.
